Background & Context
The first edition of the workshop on Recent Advances in Environment and Forest Laws for Oil and Gas Sector in India, held in Shillong in October 2019, played a pivotal role in addressing crucial issues surrounding forest and environmental regulations impacting oil and gas exploration and production, particularly in alignment with the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for Northeast India.
Given the dynamic nature of environmental and regulatory landscapes, the need for a second edition of this workshop has become evident. The ever-evolving legal and environmental frameworks, coupled with ongoing developments in the oil and gas sector, necessitate a platform for stakeholders to gather, discuss, and adapt to the changing requirements and expectations. The forthcoming second edition of the workshop promises to build upon the foundation laid by its predecessor, fostering greater clarity and collaboration among industry players and environmental authorities, ultimately ensuring sustainable and eco-sensitive practices within the oil and gas sector in India.
